rather的用法？

1、rather是程度副詞，用來修飾原級或比較級形容詞和副詞、動詞、分詞或單數(shù)名詞，意思是“有些”“相當”“多少地”，常用于負面含意。rather可和too連用，作程度狀語，但此時不可以修飾比較級。

2、rather用以減弱而不是加強其后所跟的詞或詞組的作用，如拒絕別人請求幫助時，顯得比較客氣，又如為了謙虛，可用這詞使自己在引人注目的場面表現(xiàn)得樂而不狂。

rather和pretty有什么區(qū)別？
