MBL是由船公司出具的提單，“海單”，安全性最高，由于貨代出海單的話沒有什么利潤，所以一般貨代不出海單 HBL就是貨代出的提單，簡稱“貨代單”，一般情況下都是出貨代單的 MBL的英文全稱是Master Bill of Lading，俗稱船東提單、船東單，如果有分單的話，MBL通常也被稱為主單。 HBL的英文全稱是House Bill of Lading，俗稱貨代提單、貨代單，如果要出分單，那么分單肯定是由貨代出的，既然是貨代出的，因此所有分單都是HBL——但是并不是所有HBL都是分單，因?yàn)橛泻芏嗍遣怀龇謫蔚?。也有少部分人把貨代提單叫做Forwarder Bill of Loading。
