來歷“世界海事日”最早出現(xiàn)在1978年。1978年3月17日正值《國(guó)際海事組織公約》生效二十周年。1977年11月的國(guó)際海事組織第十屆大會(huì)通過決議，決定今后每年3月17日為“世界海事日”，則1978年3月十七日成為第一個(gè)世界海事日。1979年11月，國(guó)際海事組織第十一屆大會(huì)對(duì)此決議作出修改，考慮9月的氣候較適宜海事活動(dòng)，因此今后的世界海事日改在9月最后一周的某一天。

海事是什么意思 廣義上的海事，泛指航運(yùn)（海事事務(wù)）和海上的一切相關(guān)事項(xiàng)，如航海、造船、驗(yàn)船、海事海商法、海損事故處理等。

狹義上的海事，僅指指船舶在海上航行或停泊時(shí)所發(fā)生的事故。

世界海事日現(xiàn)在的日期為每年9月最后一周的某一天，具體時(shí)間由國(guó)際海事組織(International Maritime Organization,IMO)確定。

國(guó)際航海日的發(fā)展歷史 經(jīng)國(guó)務(wù)院批準(zhǔn),自2005年起,每年7月11日為中國(guó)“航海日”,同時(shí)也作為“世界海事日”在我國(guó)的實(shí)施日期。7月11日是鄭和下西洋首航的日期，這一天對(duì)中國(guó)航海事業(yè)具有重要的歷史紀(jì)念意義。故將每年的7月11日定為法定“航海日”。這是對(duì)中國(guó)歷史悠久的航海文化及民族精神的傳承與發(fā)揚(yáng)。中國(guó)是世界航海文明的發(fā)祥地之一。鄭和下西洋，比哥倫布發(fā)現(xiàn)美洲新大陸早87年，比達(dá)伽瑪繞過好望角早98年，比麥哲倫到達(dá)菲律賓早116年。鄭和是世界航海先驅(qū)。鄭和航海所蘊(yùn)涵的民族精神已超越國(guó)界，成為世界文化遺產(chǎn)。
