這口大鍋耗資12億元，近兩千戶居民不得不搬離那個(gè)地方，坐落于貴州黔南布依族苗族自治州平塘縣克度鎮(zhèn)綠水村的大窩凼的天坑。

由我國(guó)天文學(xué)家于1994年提出構(gòu)想，從預(yù)研到建成歷時(shí)22年，于2016年9月25日落成，開(kāi)始接收來(lái)自宇宙深處的電磁波。 [1] 由中國(guó)科學(xué)院國(guó)家天文臺(tái)主導(dǎo)建設(shè)，是具有我國(guó)自主知識(shí)產(chǎn)權(quán)、世界最大單口徑、最靈敏的射電望遠(yuǎn)鏡。主動(dòng)反射面是由上萬(wàn)根鋼索和4450個(gè)反射單元組成的球冠型索膜結(jié)構(gòu)，其外形像一口巨大的鍋，接收面積相當(dāng)于30個(gè)標(biāo)準(zhǔn)足球場(chǎng)。

它可以輕易的接收到137億光年外的未來(lái)二十多年都能保持世界先進(jìn)地位。天眼于2016年9月25日建成，在軍事上是先進(jìn)行偵查，構(gòu)建穩(wěn)定可靠的通訊，而后展開(kāi)攻擊行動(dòng)。在太空開(kāi)發(fā)上也是遵循著這樣的邏輯，先進(jìn)行外太空的探索，發(fā)現(xiàn)星際資源，然后在派遣探測(cè)器近距探測(cè)目標(biāo)，最后開(kāi)始我們的星際殖民。中國(guó)在貴州建的這口大鍋相比以前的設(shè)備可以看的更遠(yuǎn)，看的更加仔細(xì)，也有可能探測(cè)到引力波，暗物質(zhì)，暗能量等等的信息，甚至有可能發(fā)現(xiàn)來(lái)自其他外太空的通訊信號(hào)，發(fā)現(xiàn)宇宙文明，因此最主要的目的就是為了在開(kāi)拓宇宙的前期搜集情報(bào)，給我們以后開(kāi)發(fā)太空鋪平道路。

在中國(guó)沒(méi)建成天眼之前，也就是現(xiàn)如今的第二名為阿雷西伯射電望遠(yuǎn)鏡，該望遠(yuǎn)鏡位于波多黎各的阿雷西博（又名阿雷西沃），直徑達(dá)305米（擴(kuò)建后為350米）。此望遠(yuǎn)鏡是在天然凹地上鋪以反射板而成，所以不能像普通望遠(yuǎn)鏡一樣操縱，它只能隨著地球自轉(zhuǎn)掃描天空的一個(gè)帶。1974年為慶祝改造完成，阿雷西博望遠(yuǎn)鏡向距離地球25,000光年的球狀星團(tuán)M13發(fā)送了一串由1679個(gè)二進(jìn)制數(shù)字組成的信號(hào)，稱為阿雷西博信息。可惜如今的它早已沒(méi)有了當(dāng)年的風(fēng)光了。

除了上面兩種之外，中國(guó)、日本、韓國(guó)三國(guó)科學(xué)家正利用他們共同構(gòu)建的世界最大射電望遠(yuǎn)鏡陣，探測(cè)銀河系結(jié)構(gòu)、超大質(zhì)量黑洞等深空奧秘。 三國(guó)天文學(xué)界在各自獨(dú)立開(kāi)發(fā)的射電天體探測(cè)網(wǎng)基礎(chǔ)上，整合了東亞地區(qū)直徑約6000公里范圍內(nèi)19臺(tái)射電天文望遠(yuǎn)鏡，覆蓋了從日本小笠原、北海道至中國(guó)烏魯木齊、昆明的廣闊地域，成為世界上最龐大的射電天文觀測(cè)網(wǎng)絡(luò)。如果配合日本“月亮女神”繞月衛(wèi)星上搭載的觀天設(shè)備，這個(gè)望遠(yuǎn)鏡陣的直徑將會(huì)擴(kuò)展到2．4萬(wàn)公里。當(dāng)代先進(jìn)射電望遠(yuǎn)鏡有：以德意志聯(lián)邦共和國(guó) 100米望遠(yuǎn)鏡為代表的大﹑中型厘米波可跟蹤拋物面射電望遠(yuǎn)鏡；以美國(guó)國(guó)立射電天文臺(tái)﹑瑞典翁薩拉天文臺(tái)和日本東京天文臺(tái)的設(shè)備為代表的毫米波射電望遠(yuǎn)鏡；
