中國的很多網(wǎng)絡(luò)潮語,把它們翻譯成英文怎么說?

講一下“老司機(jī)”的英文翻譯。

老司機(jī),你腦海中的第一印象是old driver嗎?

先看看“老”在中文中的兩個(gè)含義,一是指年齡上的老,再者就是資歷尚老練或者經(jīng)驗(yàn)上豐富,比如我們常說的老驢友、老師傅、老員工等等。

這兒的“老司機(jī)”很明顯不是在說年齡上的老,而是指資歷老練,經(jīng)驗(yàn)豐富,所以,翻譯為old driver不合適。

英文中有一個(gè)單詞,幾乎和漢語的“老”所表達(dá)的兩個(gè)意思都能對應(yīng)上,senior, 即可以表示資深的,也可以表示年老的,而且在表達(dá)后者時(shí),比old要更加尊重,比如,表達(dá)老年人時(shí),尊敬的表達(dá)是senior people, 而不是old people.

職場中的話,對于senior這個(gè)詞,港臺傾向于翻譯為“資深的” ,而大陸則傾向于翻譯為“高級的”,比如,

senior VP

資深副總裁(港臺)高級副總裁(大陸)

senior manager

資深經(jīng)理(港臺)高級經(jīng)理(大陸)

“老司機(jī)”,翻譯為senior driver 也是可以的,只不過senior這個(gè)詞還是有點(diǎn)正式的,在日常表達(dá)中沒有那么活潑。

美國人常用veteran一詞來替代senior. Veteran原意是指“老兵”,也就是久經(jīng)沙場的人,用在不同場合,表達(dá)在該場合有過豐富經(jīng)驗(yàn)的人。

比如,

老驢友 veteran traveler老記者 veteran reporter老碼農(nóng) veteran developer/ programmer老員工 veteran staff/employee老球員 veteran player老教師 veteran teacher老工程師 veteran engineer

中文中的“老司機(jī)”含有戲謔的成分,在此譯為veteran driver是很恰當(dāng)?shù)摹?/p>

當(dāng)然了,如果不是指開車,而是借用到其他領(lǐng)域的話,那就選擇用別的詞來替代driver ,比如上面舉出的那些。
