油畫，從一個(gè)油字，就可以窺探出其本質(zhì)。中文應(yīng)該是由英文oil painting直接翻譯過來，說明繪畫過程中是需要大量使用到“油”這個(gè)物質(zhì)。油畫之所以叫油畫是因?yàn)槔L畫時(shí)會(huì)用快干性的植物油比如亞麻仁油、**油、核桃油、松節(jié)油等調(diào)和顏料，并在亞麻布，紙板或木板上進(jìn)行繪制。畫面所附著的顏料有較強(qiáng)的硬度，當(dāng)畫面干燥后，能長(zhǎng)期保持光澤。憑借顏料的遮蓋力和透明性能較充分地表現(xiàn)描繪對(duì)象，色彩豐富，立體質(zhì)感強(qiáng)。油畫是西洋畫的主要畫種之一。

追根溯源，就不得不說到油畫的前身蛋彩畫。蛋彩畫早在3000多年前的古埃及墓室壁畫中就大量使用。后經(jīng)羅馬傳到歐洲，成為文藝復(fù)興時(shí)期最重要的繪畫技藝。當(dāng)時(shí)許多名家比如喬托、達(dá)芬奇、米開朗琪羅、提香等都大量使用蛋彩畫技藝進(jìn)行創(chuàng)作。后經(jīng)尼德蘭（現(xiàn)在的荷蘭）畫家揚(yáng)·凡·艾克（Jan Van Eyck）對(duì)繪畫材料等加以改良后發(fā)揚(yáng)光大，并逐漸取代了蛋彩畫，成為主流。揚(yáng)·凡·艾克也因其對(duì)油畫的獨(dú)特貢獻(xiàn)，被譽(yù)為“油畫之父”?，F(xiàn)在被大家所熟知的《蒙娜麗莎》就是西方油畫作品的典型代表。

油畫最早起源于哪里？哪個(gè)國(guó)家？

油畫是西方繪畫中最重要的繪畫之一。從原料上來看，油畫是在亞麻布、紙板或木板上用快干植物油（例如罌粟油、亞麻籽油、核桃油等）繪制而成。根據(jù)歷史相關(guān)資料，油畫最早是由阿富汗人發(fā)明的。大約在7至10世紀(jì)，阿富汗人就用油畫所使用的原料在佛教洞穴中繪制佛像。后來，油畫技術(shù)被引入歐洲。 1200年，西奧費(fèi)爾-魯濟(jì)羅斯在《多樣的藝術(shù)形式》中介紹用亞麻籽油和阿拉伯樹脂混合起來的油畫技術(shù)。

根據(jù)記錄，在油畫發(fā)明之前，主要使用一種叫做“坦培拉”的技術(shù)來繪畫。在文藝復(fù)興時(shí)期，達(dá)芬奇、拉斐爾、米開朗基羅的三位畫家都很出名，但他們當(dāng)時(shí)的畫作并非我們現(xiàn)在所說的純油畫，而是“坦培拉”。15世紀(jì)的荷蘭畫家凡·愛克在原有基礎(chǔ)上，發(fā)明了這種容易干涸的油彩顏料的繪圖方法，因此，他被稱為油畫創(chuàng)始人。從十四世紀(jì)末到十五世紀(jì)初，德國(guó)畫家丟勒可能是第一個(gè)在油畫上創(chuàng)作簽名的人。在十八世紀(jì)，最流行的是古典畫派，魯本斯、達(dá)維特、安格爾是其中的代表。
