EDGE的英文全稱為EnhancedDataratefor GSM Evolution，中文含義為“改進(jìn)數(shù)據(jù)率GSM服務(wù)”。它是一種基于GSM/GPRS網(wǎng)絡(luò)的數(shù)據(jù)增強(qiáng)型移動(dòng)通信。該技術(shù)可以提供384kbps的廣域數(shù)據(jù)通信服務(wù)和大約2Mbps的局域數(shù)據(jù)通信服務(wù)。
該技術(shù)主要在于能夠使用寬帶服務(wù)，能夠讓使用800、900、1800、 1900MHz頻段的網(wǎng)絡(luò)提供第三代移動(dòng)通信網(wǎng)絡(luò)的部分功能，并且能大大改進(jìn)目前在GSM和TDMA/136上 提供的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)化服務(wù)。
EDGE是什么意思？
EDGE即增強(qiáng)型數(shù)據(jù)速率GSM演變技術(shù)。
是一種從GSM到3G的過渡技術(shù)，EDGE網(wǎng)絡(luò)是基于2G網(wǎng)絡(luò)和3G網(wǎng)絡(luò)之間的過渡技術(shù)，也叫2．75G網(wǎng)絡(luò)，簡(jiǎn)單來講就是比2G網(wǎng)絡(luò)好一點(diǎn)，比3G網(wǎng)絡(luò)差一點(diǎn)。
edge即EGPRS 是GPRS的第二代，通常又被稱作E網(wǎng)。一般4G信號(hào)消失了，就會(huì)轉(zhuǎn)到這個(gè)模式以保證通話正常，使用EDGE必須達(dá)到兩個(gè)要求：所在范圍覆蓋有EDGE網(wǎng)絡(luò)并且手機(jī)支持EDGE。
