‘d rather為would（或had）rather的縮寫形式。would (had)在此決無“過去”之意，且無詞性、時態(tài)的變化。該句式常用來表示選擇的意愿，意為“寧可……；寧愿……；最好……”。例如：

He'd rather work in the countryside. 他寧可到農(nóng)村去工作。

If you'd rather be alone, we'll all leave here. 如果你寧愿獨自呆著，那我們都離開這兒。

(一 ) 在 用 于 指 現(xiàn) 在 的 情 況 時 ， had rather和 would rather可 以 互 換 使 用 。 在 用 來 指 將 來 或 推 測 的 情 況 時 ， 只 能 用 would rather, 不 可 用 had rather。 例 如 ：

I had rather (or would rather) not go there now.
