這首歌的作者鮑勃.迪倫(Bob Dylan)，1941年出生于美國明尼蘇達(dá)州的一個有猶太血統(tǒng)的家庭。他自幼喜愛音樂，60年代初，他從明尼蘇達(dá)大學(xué)輟學(xué)來到紐約開始了他的歌唱生涯。

1964年，他以一曲《Blowing in the Wind》走紅流行歌壇（盡管 Bob Dylan的創(chuàng)作內(nèi)涵受到了肯定，他的歌喉卻實(shí)在不討喜，因此他早期的好些作品都是藉由其他藝人的歌聲才成名的，如：“Peter, Paul & Mary”），漸漸成為民謠樂壇上的重要人物。
